About Us
We Make a Difference in the Lives of Our Home Care Consumers & Residents
Founded through the collaborative efforts of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Diocese of Australia and New Zealand and the Parish and Community of St Archdeacon Stefan Rooty Hill, St Simeon Healthcare was consecrated by His Grace Bishop Longin and inaugurated by Mr Lionel Bowen, Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, on 6 August 1989.
Our four-star status reflects our commitment to providing exceptional residential care, and respite services. Our village comprises 51 residential units, beautiful gardens, outstanding care, dedicated staff, and more! Our popular home care services allow elderly Australians who value independence to remain in the comfort of their own homes.
Our home care services assist with the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Home Care Packages (HCP) and Private Services.
Today, St Simeon Healthcare continues to grow from strength to strength and operates under the ownership of the Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
If you or a loved one is exploring aged care services, My Aged Care is a great starting point. The My Aged Care website provides information on available services, eligibility, and costs for both home care and aged care homes. Access the website here.
What are the differences between residential aged care and home care services?
Residential aged care provides 24/7 support and accommodation in a care facility, while home care services are delivered in your own home and can be tailored to fit specific needs. Residential care is often for those needing more intensive support, while home care is suitable for those who can live independently but require assistance with certain tasks.
Will I be eligible for government-funded aged care?
Eligibility depends on your health, your ability to manage daily tasks at home, and the level of support you currently receive. You may qualify if you:
- Notice changes in your abilities or memory
- Have a medical condition or reduced mobility
- Experience changes in family care arrangements
- Have had a recent fall or hospital admission
You must be 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). An assessment is required to confirm eligibility.
What happens in an assessment?
An assessor may visit your home to discuss your situation, health, lifestyle, and daily tasks. You can have a family member or friend present. The assessor will recommend services and may refer you to local providers. They can also provide informational materials and answer any questions, including cultural considerations.
Assessments may also occur in hospitals, clinics, or via phone/video, depending on your situation.
How do you allocate my carers?
As your plan is being created by the provider, you have the opportunity to specify the qualities of your ideal caregiver. Our objective is to pair you with individuals whom you will enjoy and anticipate meeting. Ensuring your satisfaction is our highest priority.
I'm not comfortable calling My Aged Care. Is it possible for someone to make the call on my behalf?
If you’re uncomfortable calling My Aged Care, someone can call on your behalf with your consent. This involves registering them as your representative, which can be done during the first call. They can call on your behalf with you being present to provide consent.
What will aged care cost me?
Costs vary depending on your eligibility, chosen provider, and financial situation. While the Australian Government may cover part of the expenses, you might be required to contribute based on your financial capacity.
What is a provider? Who provides my services?
Providers deliver your care, whether at home, short-term, or in an aged care home. My Aged Care helps you apply for and access services from government-subsidised and regulated providers by the Australian Government.
How do I pick an aged care provider?
Consider your priorities, needs, budget, and location when selecting a provider. Compare different providers as they offer services and costs differently. It is a good idea to visit providers directly, for example at St Simeon Healthcare, we offer residential tours, phone and in-home consultations.
How do I check the quality level of an Residential aged care home?
Government-funded aged care homes are rated on a scale from 1 to 5 stars, reflecting resident experience, compliance, staffing, and quality measures. You can check the star rating as part of their listing. St Simeon Healthcare proudly holds a four-star rating, demonstrating our commitment to excellence. Your well-being and health are our top priorities. Find a provider | My Aged Care.
When should I consider an aged care home rather than help at home?
Consider moving to an aged care home if living independently becomes challenging or if you require more support than what your current caregiver, family, or friends can provide.
My needs have changed, should I get reassessed?
If your needs change, ensure your care plan matches them. Your current provider may reassess you, or you can call My Aged Care at 1800 200 422 for a reassessment.
What is the difference between Home Care Packages (HCP) and the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)?
Home Care Packages (HCP) and the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) are two different types of government-funded support for seniors, each catering to different levels of care needs:
- Home Care Packages (HCP): These are designed for people who need more comprehensive care at home. They provide a higher level of support and a broader range of services, including personal care, nursing care, and help with household tasks. Home Care Packages are available in four levels, with each level offering progressively more support based on the assessed needs of the individual. For more information, https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/home-care-package-costs-and-fees.
- Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP): This program offers a lower level of support compared to Home Care Packages. It is intended for individuals who need less intensive assistance and support with daily living activities. CHSP services may include help with home maintenance, personal care, respite and Allied Health care. For more information: https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/help-at-home/commonwealth-home-support-programme.
The choice between these programs depends on your assessed needs and the level of care required. If you’re unsure which program suits your needs, a My Aged Care assessment can help determine the most appropriate option.
